GFA to call EXCO meeting to approve three-man committee's report

Published on: 17 September 2021

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) are close to appointing a new coach for the senior national team, Black Stars.

Sources have told that the Executive Council of GFA could meet on Friday to approve the choice of the three-member committee.

The committee made of vice-president Mark Addo, Executive Council member Dr Randy Abbey and Upper East Regional FA Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida were tasked with finding a new Black Stars coach following the sacking of Charles Akonnor on Monday.

They were given 72 hours, which elapsed on Thursday evening, and Ghanasoccernet understands that they have settled on the best candidate for the job.

Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac is expected to be named new coach for a second stint, after beating other candidates who applied for the top job.

Rajevac did a great job between August 2008 and September 2010 when he was in charge of the Black Stars.

He guided Black Stars to their first Africa Cup of Nations final in 20 years in 2010 and months later, the Black Stars become only the third African country after Senegal and Cameroon to reach the World Cup quarter-finals.
