The Ghana FA will be handing out a $30,000 grant to both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak to support their campaign in African Inter Club competitions this season.

Kotoko, Ghana’s reigning Premier League champions are competing in the CAF Champions League while Hearts of Oak are in the Confederations Cup.

Ghanaian clubs have often complained of the huge financial burden associated with playing in Africa.

Calls have been made to the state for financial bailout – a norm in most North African countries – but has not been forthcoming.

The GFA have thus taken the initiative to ease the enormous financial burden on the competing Ghanaian clubs in Africa by offering the grant.

“We will be supporting the clubs in Africa this season,” Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi revealed.

“We will soon make a presentation to them – the amount I think is around $20-30,000.”

The GFA made a similar donation to Ghanaian clubs competing in Africa last season.
