Ghana 0-3 Mali: Player Ratings as Black Stars suffer heavy defeat
Black Stars

Ghana suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat in Charles Akonnor’s first game against Mali on Friday.

The Black Stars were poor, the Malians dominating and deservedly winning the game comfortably.

Below is Ghanasoccernet.com's rating of the players who featured for Ghana:

Lawrence Ati-Zigi – 3.0

The goalkeeper was given the nod in the absence of first choice Richard Ofori and he failed to impress as he conceded three goals.

Tariqe Fosu - 3.0

The former England youth international made his debut for Ghana. Tariqe failed to produce his best as he featured in an unfamiliar right-back position. The 24-year-old is a winger.

Nicholas Opoku - 3.0

The Amiens defender also failed to impress. He was overly aggressive and that caused his injury. Opoku was replaced in the 65th minute.

Kasim Nuhu – 3.0

Kasim failed to command the defence as the most experienced player at the back. A lot was expected of him.

Gideon Mensah - 2.0

The left-back had a poor game. He was the weakest spot in the team and Malians took full advantage. Mensah was caught out of position in Mali's first and second goal.

Alexander Djiku - 3.5

Djiku would be proud of his debut. He was decent in the holding midfield role but could have done better.

Bernard Mensah - 3.5

Mensah featured in a central midfield role and had a decent game in the 46 minutes he lasted on the filed.

Thomas Partey - 3.0

Partey came into the game brimming with confidence after his big-money move to Arsenal but failed to live up to expectations.

Eugene Mensah - 2.0

Ansah wouldn't like to remember his debut. He was poor and had to be substituted before the first half.

Andre Ayew - 2.5

After Gideon and Ansah, Andre was probably the worst player on the filed for the Black Stars. It is surprising he lasted the entire duration.

Jordan Ayew - 3.0

Jordan was not offered the needed supply and struggled to create anything on his own.

Substitutes:

Kamaldeen Sulemana-3.0

Kamaldeen replaced Ansah and did better. The 18-year-old would be happy with his debut performance

Emmanuel Lomotey- 2.5

Lomotey came on for Mensah. The substitute had a quiet game.

Joseph Aidoo - 2.5

He also did nothing to change the defensive problems.

Caleb Ekuban- N/A
