Ghana and Medeama’s creative midfielder Rashid Nortey, looks to have played his last game for the club as European teams narrow in on him following another stellar campaign.

What we know so far:

Newly prompted French League 1 side Clermont Foot 63 have made enquiries about signing Nortey this summer.

He was earlier in the season linked with a lucrative deal to Kuwait, but the player is said to prefer a move to main-stream Europe.

Ghana League Champions Accra Hearts of Oak have also been interested and are looking to reunite him with coach Samuel Boadu who swapped Tarkwa for Accra and won the league at his first time of asking.

Hearts of Oak’s rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko have also shown interest in the midfield powerhouse.

Nortey’s Journey so far:

Nortey joined Ghana Premier League side Medeama in 2017 and has been playing top-flight football since.

He made his debut for the Yellow and Mauve’s in a 3-2 defeat to Liberty professional on the 26-02-2017, replacing Eric Kwakwa in the second half of the game.

On March 15 2020, Nortey was rewarded for his stellar performance in the league with another lucrative three-year deal at Medeama.

He was invited to the Ghana national team [Black Stars] ahead of a friendly game against Morocco and the Ivory Coast in May 2021 and made his debut for his country against the Moroccans as a late substitute for the injured Emmanuel Lomotey. Ghana lost the game 1-0.
