South Africa coach Hugo Broos said Ghana are 'under enormous pressure' ahead of the final two group games in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

At the end of the second round of qualifiers this week, one of the two teams will lead group G.

South Africa are currently occupying the first position, having picked up 10 points, one more than Ghana’s nine after four games.

The two countries will face off on the last matchday in Cape Coast on Sunday after their penultimate games on Thursday.

South Africa host Zimbabwe in Johannesburg, with the same city hosting Ethiopia’s meeting with Ghana.

The East Africans opted for Orlando Stadium after their home stadiums were banned by CAF.

"It's better to in the situation that we're in as compared to the one of Ghana," Broos said.

"They're under enormous pressure for this game because if they don't win, it could be a disaster for them.

"That doesn't make our game any easier because we also need to win against Zimbabwe. However, I prefer the situation the way it is now.

"I hope we can keep things the way they are for the Ghana game on Sunday."

While Broos has come in for constant criticism with regards to his selections, the former Belgian international felt he's starting to get the best out of his team.

Bafana's qualification start was shaky with the away draw against Zimbabwe, but their home win against Ghana strengthened the bond in the team.

Broos hopes that the excellence that is building in the team will be rewarded with a spot in the final qualifying round.

"You can say what you want as a coach, but if the players don't take it in, then it's of no use," Broos said.

"From the beginning, I felt like the players wanted to go with me in the direction that I selected.

"We hesitated in the first game against Zimbabwe because none of us knew what was expected from each other.

"We gelled better from the Ghana game and now we feel like it's a team, when you look at how the players treat each other and the confidence is high.

"We've been together for three months and I hope all the good work we've been putting in will be compensated by getting to the next round."
