Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed delight after inking an 'improved' two-year-contract for UAE giants Al Ain on Thursday.

The 2014 World Cup Ghana hit-man committed a further two-years to his current contract to keep him at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium until 2018.

Though general consensus was for a return to Europe after an inspiring display in Brazil in Ghana but he rather opted to remain at the club he signed from Sunderland in 2011.

And, the former Udinese man is delighted to stay.

“I am very happy to extend my contract here until 2018 and I thank the club’s board, management and all the fans for their support,” he said in a statement on his official website after signing the deal.

“I have been happy here since I arrived in 2011 and I hope to help the side to keep winning.”

The Ghana record-holding all-time top-scorer has exceeded over 100 goals for Al Ain.
