Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has apologized for the team’s disappointment campaign at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals.

The Black Stars suffered two defeats and one draw to finish at the foot of the table in Group with one point.

It was the first time in three World Cup finals the Black Stars could not advance from the Group stage.

Ghana’s early elimination has been put down to the appearance fee dispute which hit camp before their final match against Group.

Players demanded they were paid US$ 100,000 before taking to field and had their wish when an amount of US$ 3 million was airlifted to the team in Brazil.

Gyan says they (players) have no excuse for failing scale over the Group stage hurdle.

"We went to a tournament to make the nation proud but things didn't happen,” Gyan said on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Sunday afternoon.

"All I have to say is sorry to all Ghanaians for our performance.

"I won't say it's good to be back. But we just have to just focus on our next assignment."
