Ghana captain John Mensah happy with squad depth

Ghana captain John Mensah is happy with the squad depth of the Black Stars ahead of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Lyon centre-back captained a team which included a rookie and five fringe players to draw goalless with Nigeria on Tuesday night.

Left-back Massawudu Alhassan impressed on his debut and gave an indication of solving the team's long-standing problematic position.

Albert Adomah raided the right-flanks and 19-year-old Mohammed Abu manned the midfielder with ease.

Prince Tagoe, Anthony Annan and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie showed signs of quality replacements.

"He [Stevanovic] couldn't get them in the game [Nations Cup qualifier] against Sudan but this [game with Nigeria] friendly game made him feature them and see if he needed them at anytime, he can know who to call," Mensah told Joy FM.

"So I think it's the coach's decision and I think they also delivered and didn't disgrace themselves.

"They did well so I think they should keep the good work and at the end of the day the coach will decide."

Ghana will know their opponents in Group B for the Nations Cup finals at the draw in Malabo on 28 October.

The tournament will be held in 21 January to 12 February.
