Ghana captain Mensah makes 2012 AFCON XI

Captain John Mensah was the only Ghanaian player to make the first eleven of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations all-star team.

Despite missing three games through injury and suspension, the Lyon defender made the team compiles by CAF's technical instructors which was released after the final match on Sunday.

Mensah ended the competition as joint-top goalscorer of the Black Stars with two goals - same as midfielder Andre Ayew.

Midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah was however named among the substitutes in the 23-man squad dominated by newly crowned African champions Zambia.
