Captain Sulley Muntari believes the absence of quartet Dede Ayew, Asamoah Gyan, John Mensah and John Pantsil could affect the team for next month's double-header.

The Black Stars will battle Lesotho in the opening match of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers on June 1 without the four players.

Leading marksman Asamoah Gyan will miss the tie after calling time on his international career since he came in for heavy criticism following his penalty miss at the 2012 African Cup of Nations to eventual winners Zambia.

Andre Ayew and substantive captain John Mensah are both in the treatment room after suffering various degrees of injuries while Pantsil was dropped due to his club inactiveness.

The AC Milan star who will wear the armband to lead the team insists their absence is a massive blow to the team.

“It will be very difficult to play without those guys especially Dede, Asa and the two Johns,” Muntari told Radio XYZ

“But we’ll try our best. It’s part of life. Definitely we’ll win this match and make them happy so they will return for the next games.

“We want to play good football, we want to make them happy and we want to win,”

Victory over the Crocodiles at the Baba Yara stadium will inspire confidence of the next crucial tie against African Champions Zambia at the newly built Levy Mwanawasa stadium at Ndola on June 9.
