Ghana coach C.K Akonnor reacts to Daniel Amartey's 'disciplined' performance against Morocco

Ghana coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has described Daniel Amartey's solid display against Morocco as a disciplined performance.

Daniel Amartey impressed in his first game for the Black Stars since 2018 and was one of the best players on Tuesday night as Ghana lost 1-0 to Morocco.

"Daniel is a disciplined boy," said Akonnor after the game. "I have known for a while, even before I became the coach of the Black Stars," he added.

The Leicester City player has struggled with injuries in the last three years, forcing him to miss several Ghana matches including missing the 2019 Nations Cup.

"When I went to Europe, he was injured so I visited him and spoke to him and waited for the moment. He is a very positive addition to the team, he has been away for a long but there was no sign of rustiness from him even though he has been away for a long time and so you look at the players we have and those who were not here i.e. Partey, Wakaso and others, should we get a full house and abide by the same rules of the game and how we want to play, I think we will do well," concluded the gaffer.

The Black Stars are expected in Ghana on Wednesday and will start preparing for their next game against Ivory Coast on Thursday.
