Ghana coach CK Akonnor has explained he overlooked in-form Justice Blay in his squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers because the Asante Kotoko ace just recovered from the treatment room.

Blay has been one of the enterprising players in the Ghana Premier League

Akonnor gave call-ups to foul locally-based players Habib Mohammed, Yahaya Mohammed, Kwadwo Amoako and Richard Attah.

''For (Justice) Blay he was sick. He just came back in the last match, I saw him and he was fantastic, he was good, but his time will come,'' Akonnor said at Tuesday's press conference.

The Black Stars will host Sudan at the Cape Coast Stadium on 27 March, 2020 and the reverse fixture in Omdurman three days later.
