Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has refused to pitch his side for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.

The Black Stars are considered genuine contenders to rule the continent at Gabon/Equatorial Guinea after defending champions Egypt, four-time winners Cameroon, Nigeria and South Africa failed to qualify.

The Serbian guided Ghana to a 19th Nations Cup appearance by winning all of his four matches after taking charge in January this year.

Stevanovic says his side need more matches to enhance their credentials for the tournament which begins on 21 January.

"I want to go step by step and that is important," the 44-year-old

"We will play another game in November to prepare for the Nations Cup. We have very high aspirations."

Ghana drew 0-0 with Nigeria at the Vicarage Road Stadium in London on Tuesday night.
