Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says his side have been handed the needed test for next month's World Cup qualifier against Zambia after drawing 2-2 with Turkey on Wednesday.

The Black Stars went down 2-0 at half time but a stirred up second half performance saw them draw level.

Captain Asamoah Gyan scored both goals after Burak Y?lmaz and Umut Bulut had put the Turks ahead at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.

Appiah rang changes and that yielded the required dividends for a share of the spoils.

"Turkey is a very good team. It was a good preparation match before the World Cup qualifier against Zambia," Appiah said in a post-match interview.

This game is one we've been waiting for. It was a good test.

"It is a very organized Turkish national team squad. The first half was very good for them; very positive. We had to fight back in the second half."

Ghana will host the Chipolopolo at the Baba Yara Stadium on 6 September in a final Brazil 2014 Group D World Cup qualifier.

The Black Stars need to avoid defeat to qualify to the final phase of the African qualifiers which will involve ten teams in five ties with the winners making it to the finals.
