Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac has rubbished reports that he has snubbed the Black Stars to sign a lucrative contract with Saudi giants Al-Ahly.
The news from an Arabic website in Sudan shook Ghana Football Association officials who were confident that they had tied the Serbian to a new four-year deal.
The report came few hours before Ghana played Swaziland in their opening African Cup of Nations qualifier in Mbabane where he led the Black STars to thrash the home side 3-0.
The Serbian brushed aside the report from the Arabic website, insisting he should have quit the Ghana post if he has signed with Ahly.
“If I had signed for anyone else I would not be here,†the Ghana coach said.
“It is not the first time this has been said. It is nonsense.â€
Rajevac's decision to delay a tabled contract has generated speculation even though Al Ahly had been keen on signing him.
But his extended stay with the Black Stars, four weeks after his contract has expired, has given hope to Ghana FA officials.
The Serbian has assured the people of Ghana that he will sign the contract which leaves him in the post until 2014.
With Ghana playing Sudan in next month's African Cup of Nations, others have pointed out that the report from the Sudanese website is meant to disrupt the Ghana team.
