Ghana defender Andy Yiadom set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines with knee injury

Ghana defender Andy Yiadom is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a knee injury in the Championship opener.

The right-back aggravated a knee injury during Reading FC's 2-0 win at Derby County in opening fixture of the 2020/2021 season.

It was his first appearance since the beginning of March also due to an injury layoff.

Reading manager Veljko Paunovic has confirmed Yiadom will be out for 'a considerable time,' leaving the Serbian trainer with some big decisions to make in the coming weeks.

Yiadom is the only senior right-back at the club.

"It's an injury in his [Yiadom's] knee which will take him out for a considerable time," explained the manager.

"Unfortunately he will miss some time with the team on the field. "It was a knock to the knee which provoked a damage in his ligaments.

"We don't know how long it is going to be at this point but it's not going to be soon."
