Ghana defender Baba Abdul Rahman retained his starting place in the Augsburg side which beat Eintracht Frankfurt 1-0 on Sunday despite concerns about his fitness.

The left-back, who returned from international duty playing the entire duration in Ghana’s 3-2 win over Togo in a 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, was a doubt to start.

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl had expressed worry over Rahman’s fitness after the player travelled 16 hours and rejoined the team late.

Rahman was made to train alone but convinced the technical team about his readiness and excelled in the match.

The 20-year-old has now featured in all three matches so far and played full throttle.

Raul Marcelo Bobadilla scored the only on the 49th minute mark.
