Black Stars centre-back Daniel Amartey has been nominated for Leicester City Player of the Season award by BBC Leicester.

BBC Leicester presenter Owynn Palmer-Atkin named the Ghanaian defender in his four man shortlist for the top award, which will be voted for by fans of the club.

Amartey, who had his best campaign since joining the club in 2016, will compete for the accolade alongside striker Jamie Vardy, midfielder James Maddison and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

The 27-year-old has battled with injuries in the past, limiting his game time with the Foxes.

However, the ex-FC Copenhagen star bounced back strongly to make 40 appearances and has even been nicknamed 'Mr Consistency.'

"With the huge injuries Leicester have suffered this season (particularly in defence), Amartey has risen to the demands of this side. He made 40 appearances in all competitions and moved himself above Caglar Soyuncu and Jannik Vestergaard in the pecking order. He’s been 'Mr Consistent' and become a strong backbone of this Foxes side this season," said Owynn Palmer-Atkin.

Amartey helped Leicester City finish the campaign in eight place and only missed out on reaching the Europa Conference League final after defeat to eventual champions AS Roma.
