Ghana defender Daniel Amartey retained by Leicester City

Ghana defender Daniel Amartey has been retained by FA Cup winners Leicester City ahead of next season.  

The 26-year-old made a strong comeback from injury last season to help the Foxes win the FA Cup and finish fifth.

Amartey is currently with the senior national team of Ghana for the double international friendlies against Morocco and Ivory Coast.

However, Leicester City released their retained squad list with the Ghanaian center back included.

Veteran defender Christian Fuchs and long standing captain Wes Morgan are among the high profile players released by the club.

Daniel Amartey joined the English Premier League outfit 2016 but struggled with injuries in the last two seasons.

His current deal expires in June 2022.
