Ghana defender Daniel Amartey has to settle for a place on the Leicester City bench as they play Arsenal in the opening match of the English Premier League season.

The Black Stars centre-back had been hoping for an improved fortune under new coach Craig Shakespeare with the new season starting.

Amartey has a good pre-season and it was thought he would get place in the starting line-up.

However he has been named to start of the bench in the first match of the season.

The Premier League returns with Arsenal hosting Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger saw his enviable top four record come grinding to a halt last term, as amid an increased Wenger Out presence the Gunners finished fifth - missing out on Champions League football.

But after landing the FA Cup, breaking the club's transfer record to land Alexandre Lacazette, and seeing off Chelsea on penalties in the Community Shield, there is renewed optimism in north London.

Tonight they host Craig Shakespeare's Foxes, who after shocking the world in 2015-16 finished mid-table last season; they'll have been happy with that after looking like relegation candidates in the first half of the campaign.
