Ghana defender Jerry Akaminko had his family in the stands cheering him on in Eskiserhirspor’s 1-0 win over Elizigspor in the Turkish top flight.

The 25-year-old received his mother and his two younger sisters at his base in Eskisehir days ahead of the weekend clash.

The family had made the long journey from Ghana to offer support to the Black Stars defender.

Their presence in Turkey epitomizes the great Ghanaian tradition of a strong family bond – a very prominent feature of Ghanaian society.

The 25-year-old did not disappoint as he helped his side to the slim win but more crucially helping keep a clean sheet.

The win lifts Eskiserhirspor into an Europa League qualification spot but their closest rivals Trabzonspor are yet to play.

Akaminko has been a consistent performer for his club and has recently featured more prominently for the Ghana national team.
