Ghana defender John Boye was sent off for the second time this season on Saturday in Metz’s 4-0 thumping at the hands of Monaco.

The skipper was given his marching orders in the dying embers of the game after receiving two yellow cards in the space of two minutes.

The 33-year-old was booked in the 85th minute for a bad challenge. Two minutes later, Boye went into the referee's book again after he committed a foul which led to a penalty.

Wissam Ben Yedder converted to seal a comfortable victory for Monaco while extending Metz’s winless run to four straight games.

It is the second time this campaign that Boye has been shown a red card in French Ligue 1. The first came in early December against Lyon.

Boye has scored one and assisted two in 29 league appearances this season.
