Ghana international defender Jonathan Mensah was unusually dropped to the Evian Thonon Gaillard bench in the French second-tier league as they suffered yet another loss on Friday.

The Black Stars center-back seems to have paid the price for his errors that cost the club their defeat last weekend but his replacement - The Gabonese Aaron Appidangoye, was no better as they slipped to a 2-0 loss against AC Ajaccio and finished the game with ten men.

Mensah, 25, is regular starter at Evian but his recent form and the club's slump has affected his statistics as he was tipped to leave the club.

Evian are just two points away from the relegation zone.
