Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah is in the final phase of recovery from injury.

The 22-year-old has been battling a muscular injury sustained at the tail end of last season for several months now.

He was conspicuously missing for his French club Evian Thonon Gaillard in their pre-season friendly loss to Marseille last weekend.

The former AsantiGold stopper is said to be making steady progress in his recovery but is deemed not to the level of his colleagues in pre-season training.

Evian’s medical team hope to have Mensah fit enough to help the club who are in their second season in the French top flight at the start of the campaign on August 10.

Evian will start off their campaign at home to Bordeaux on August 11.
