Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku has tested positive for COVID-19, the club has confirmed

The former Udinese defender has been absent from the team's training since last Thursday after testing positive for the coronavirus.

He was named among the 19 players for the Caen game a day before the match.

The former Berekum Chelsea defender was ruled out of the game as Amiens lost 3-1 to Caen over the weekend.

Amiens coach Philippe Hinschberger confirmed in an interview why the Ghana international missed the game against Caen.

He announced that he was sick.

"Indeed, he was because he tested positive for Covid-19. Hence his absence".

The club has carried out COVID-19 test for its players, staff, technical team and have all turned out negative.

Nicholas Opoku has been isolated and still recovering from the virus.

The 24-year-old has made seven appearances for Amiens SC this season before contracting COVID-19.
