Ghana defender Phil Ofosu Ayeh has returned to Germany to sign for FC Hansa Rostock on a season long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The 26 year old joined the German club on transfer deadline day after failing to impress English Premier League side Wolves.

Ofosu-Ayeh joined Wolves from Eintracht Braunschweig in 2017 but has failed to establish himself in manager Nuno Espirito Santos' due to injuries and poor form.

Meanwhile, FC Hansa Rostock are delighted to capture the German born Ghana international.

"With Phil Ofosu-Ayeh, whom I know from my time at VfR Aalen, we have been able to win a running and strong fighting full-back, which is characterized by its speed and dynamism. In addition to his defensive qualities, as a trained striker he is also in a position to get involved in the game, “said Hansa Rostock FC sports director Markus Thiele.

Meanwhile, Phil Ofosu -Ayeh says he is happy to join the club and expects to gain more playing time in Germany.

“I’m happy to be able to play for an association like Hansa Rostock with its tradition, its great conditions and its many fans. Hansa gives me the opportunity to regain more match practice and of course I want to give it back by giving gas and helping the team as well as possible,’’ Phil Ofosu-Ayeh said.

He is expected to join Hansa team in training next week Tuesday
