Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila is set to extend his contract with Kuwaiti giants Al Qadsia following an impressive campaign with the club.

The 27-year old's current deal is close to an end but management of the club and the player have began negotiations for the renewal of his contract.

The defender has been a key cog at the club since joining in 2015 from South Africa side Mamelodi Sundowns.

"The club and the administration doesn’t owe me anything, they have given me everything and we are in talks to also renew the contract," Sumaila posted on Twitter.

He continued: "And also we are praying this virus will end soon so we can all get back to work. I am always happy to be part of this big family Qadsia club."

The former Asante Kotoko defender is reported to be on the radar of other clubs in the gulf region, however it is obvious the Ghana international is not eager to leave Qadsia.

Al Qadsia are currently second on the league log but football has been halted because of the coronavirus pandemic.
