Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila is optimistic he will be handed a permanent deal at French club Lens.

The highly talented powerful centre-back had a successful one-week trial with the Ligue 2 outfit last week after he gained his debut call up into the Black Stars.

He returned home to help Ebusua Dwarfs post a 3-1 win over New Edubiase in the Glo Premier League

The 19-year-old claims he impressed officials of Lens to earn a contract during the January transfer window.

"The trials went well and they were very happy with my performance and hopefully I will join them in January," Sumaila said

"It's the dream of every player to play abroad and so if the deal comes my way I won’t hesitate to pick up."

Sumaila came to prominence at the start of the season following his excellent performances for Ghana's Under-23 side who won gold at the All Africa Games in September.

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic has been impressed with his output which resulted in the decision to call him into the senior team.
