Ghana midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari has warned his side against ‘taking liberties’ when they face Sudan in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday but admits only victory will do.
The AC Milan star who missed the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa due to an injury makes a return to the team for the game against the Nile Crocodile at the Baba Yara stadium.
Three points against their opponent would leave the Black Stars in good spirit heading into the next crucial matches in the race to qualify to the global showpiece in Brazil.
While the 28-year-old is clear about their expectations, he does not advocate over-confidence.
“We know what we are capable of and we are confident of three points,†Muntari said
“We have to give 100% to get a result. We see this as a chance to get some result on board and I’m sure there’ll be chances for us to do so.
“I must admit we’re desperate. We want to be in the World Cup and so we must win at all cost.
“We have to put the Nations Cup issue behind us. If we put it on our mind, we won’t be able to perform well.
“What happened in South Africa is just part of football and so we should forget about it. We want to win and make our people happy.â€
The Black Stars have their work cut out for them after Zambia were awarded three points from the boardroom, leaving the Ghanaians three points behind the Chipolopolo.
