Ghana defender John Boye admits the Black Stars will be motivated by revenge when they face Zambia in an explosive World Cup qualifier on June 9.

Many of the Black Stars players can still feel the emotional scars from Zambia 1-0 victory in the semi-final of the 2012 African Cup of Nations which denied the West African powerhouse the title.

The two sides will face off at the newly constructed US$ 65 million Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in the second group game of the qualifiers for Brazil 2014.

The strong centre-back who put up an incredible performance at the tournament says his team-mates are driven by revenge against the Chipolopolo.

“It is going to be like a battle,” Boye told Finder Sports

“We are going for revenge and I’m sure they also know that we are coming for revenge but the most important thing is to win and make the whole nation happy.

“There is nothing like working with somebody you already know. We know him (coach Kwesi Appiah) so this is not the time to get used to him. We respect him because he respects us.

“In Ghana, every player is good. All you need is to be given the chance so that you can prove to the people that you are special.

The Black Stars must first beat Lesotho at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday to inspire team confidence ahead of the Zambia clash.
