Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi made efforts to have Kevin-Prince Boateng rescind his decision to quit the national team.

The 24-year-old wrote officially to the association to make his decision official – stating his inability to cope with the physical exertions of both club and country assignments as his reasons.

But contrary to public opinions to let the AC Milan star go, Nyantakyi made futile efforts to get the AC Milan star to reverse his decision.

“I spoke to him when he took the decision but he said that was his decision and we respect him for that,” Nyantakyi said.

“We made the effort except that it wasn’t successful so we leave it at that.”

Boateng’s decision means Ghana will be robbed off one of its best players in its bid to end a 30-year wait for an African crown in next year’s finals in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
