Ghana FA boss wants Fifa to amend football rules

Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi is demanding a change in the footballing after an infamous hand ball incident denied the Black Stars a World Cup semi-final slot.

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez deliberately punched a goal-bound header at the depth of extra-time last Friday.

Referee Olegario Benquerenca whistled for a penalty and flashed the red card but Nyantakyi believes the Black Stars were handed a raw deal by that decision.

"We at the GFA are equally concerned about the unfair treatment that was meted out to our team. We think that the decision of the referee not to award a goal but rather a penalty brings into sharp focus and question, the very foundation of fairness in football," Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi said on Tuesday when the World Cup heroes paid a visit to country President John Mills.

"Accordingly we have decided to petition Fifa and call on the Internation Football Association body, the body responsible for amending laws of the game, to take a critical look at the declaration of a goal in football and incidentally majority of the members come from the United Kingdom and England were also a victim of those circumstances and I belive they will support us to pursue this cause," he added.
