Ghana FA Cup winners to get cash support for Africa

The MTN Ghana FA Cup Committee intends to financially assist winners of the competition to enable them play in Africa.

In the past, clubs have withdrawn their participation due to the lack of cash.

Nania FC, who won the 2011 competition, were unable to play in the continent's second-tier competition citing financial constraints.

This year's campaigners New Edubiase United struggled to raise money for the preliminary round qualifier against Diables Noirs of Congo.

But they eventually partook in the competition and were eliminated 5-4 on penalties in Brazzaville.

"Not this year. We are thinking in the coming year, we should attach a certain amount of the prize coming out of the funds being given by MTN to the club that win," FA Committee chairman Lepowura MND Jawula said.

"At least it can amount the fares of the team that wins."
