Ghana FA defends Gyan's nightclub gig

Ghana Football Association insists striker Asamoah Gyan did no wrong by going to a nightclub hours after the Black Stars dour scoreless stalemate with Sudan in a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier last Sunday.

The Sunderland striker went to the Fox Trap nightclub in Oseikrom to sing at Castro’s launch of his latest album which features Gyan in one of the songs.

His action did not go done well with fans of the Black Stars who are still brooding over the poor result in the qualifier.

"We break camp tentatively and in a one-off match like this, camping ends after the match and every player has the right to do whatever he likes," Ghana FA Vice-President Fred Pappoe told Happy FM.

"Even at tournaments, we give players a break after a match but ensure that it's within bounds. These help them to wine down and beat off the pressure.

"These are adults and it's difficult to dictate to them what to do outside the camping base."

Gyan was joined in the nightclub by some Black Stars players after they put up a disappointing display and failed to beat the unfancied Sudanese.

While the said players partied all night, fans of the Black Stars were left alone to cure the severe heartaches as they were confident the World Cup quarter finalists would win the game.

Fans poured insults on the 24-year-old who got sent off in the match at the Baba Yara Stadium.
