Ghana FA Executive Committee member George Afriyie has hailed the Black Satellites for their ‘deserved’ win over Sierra Leone in their opening qualifiers for next year’s African Youth Championships.

Goals from Dennis Tetteh and Prosper Kassim proved enough to record the impressive away win in the game played in Bo on Saturday.

The win gives Ghana a commanding advantage even before they host Sierra Leone in the return encounter expected to be played in Tamale in a fortnight.

George Afriyie who doubles as the team’s management committee chairman says the win was well ‘deserved’ having come up against a determined home side.

“This is a win deserved by the team after a hard day’s work,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“The team did very well against a very good side and we hope to come back home and complete what we have started.”

The Black Satellites are looking to qualify for their third successive African finals which will be held next year in Senegal.
