The Ghana Football Association is delighted with Andre Ayew's naming in CAF's  five-man shortlist for the African Footballer of the Year.
The Olympique Marseille talisman survived the cut from 10 last Friday at the press conference in Accra.
Ayew faces stiff competition from Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast and Manchester City), Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast and Shanghai Shenhua), Alex Song (Cameroon and Barcelona) and Demba Ba (Senegal and Newcastle United).
Last year, the 22-year-old came in third behind winner Yaya Toure and Seydou Keita.
"We are happy one of our own has made it this far. Andre Ayew has had a great season with both club and country," Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Saani Daara told Goal.com Ghana.
"He has been a top performer from Africa and you realise he has been Olympic Marseille’s best player."
CAF will announce a final shortlist of three candidates before the winner is announced at a ceremony in Accra on 20 December.
