Kwasi Nyantakyi has urged a coaches including the one’s manning the various national teams to focus more on teams in the lower divisions of Ghana football.

The Ghana FA President was speaking at an awards ceremony to honour excellence in this year’s MTN FA Cup.

Nyantakyi’s comments is helped by the fact that lower tier clubs were the most impressive in this year’s FA Cup competition which had Division One club, Nania FC emerging winners.

"The fact that Nania won the FA Cup bares ample testimony that there are a lot of talents in the lower ranks of our football," Nyantakyi said.

"Therefore our coaches should beware and pay more attention to the unearthing of talents at that level."

Most often, topflight clubs in Ghana chase the few stellar performers in the league which leads to inflated price tags on players who clearly do not deserve it.

In the case of national teams, coaches tend to look in the diaspora rather than concentrate on the immense talents on the local scene especially in the lower divisions.

However Nania's feat over giants Asante Kotoko with a unique brand of football has alerted all to the tradition of sourcing for young and quality talents in the lower tiers.
