President of King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Karim Grunsah, has proposed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to pay about 70% of the money owed to referees from the stimulus package yet to come from FIFA.
The GFA is set to receive $500,000 as stimulus package from the FIFA due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The amount represents the operational funding for member associations for the years 2019 and 2020.
According to Alhaji Grunsah, the referees have been owed for far too long and the FA must consider settling some of their debts when the money hit their account.
“The referees money has been long overdue and they need to be paid. At least the FA should pay about 70% of monies owed them. It is very important. They must be paid so they can officiate the games very well”, he told Happy FM.
“The FA should consider sharing a percentage of the monies to clubs”, he added.
Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum, has disclosed to the media that the financial aid from FIFA is for operational costs of the FA and not meant for clubs.
