The Ghana FA has slammed a report claiming that Black Stars players are angling for bonus increment for the 2018 World Cup qualifiers insisting the claims are calculated to get disaffection for the players of the national team.

The federation insists reports that players are seeking $12,000 as winning bonuses for the matches are false as no such requests have been made.

The report comes just months after the players agreed to reduce their bonuses from $10,000 to $8000 which has surprised many football fans.

The GFA suspects the report is part of a grand scheme to demonize the Black Stars players and damage the national team's chances of qualifying for the tournament in Russia.

A report by a website, repeated by a radio station, both opposed to the federation - claimed on Tuesday that the Black Stars winning bonus has been increased from the current $8,000 to $12,000 for the upcoming Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

"This is how low the propagandists are prepared to go to demonize the Black Stars players with false reports just to get disaffection for the team," Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara told a local radio station in Kumasi.

"The players have not asked for any increment in their bonuses and it is shocking that they can just put out any false news reports. The players have not gone for any meeting and have not discussed this or even proposed this.

"Players who have only just recently agreed to reduce their bonuses can be subjected to these false reports just calculated to get the fans to turn against the team.

"It is not true that the players are demanding $12,000. The players are focused on playing for the country and won't be distracted from their key goals by such calculated false reports seeking to paint them black in the eyes of the public."

The issue of bonuses draws criticism for the players of the national team and the report is widely seen as one of the moves seeking to draw negative press for the players.

Ghana have got two important assignments ahead of them them with the Africa Cup of Nations coming up in January.

But the World Cup qualifiers start in October with the Black Stars taking on Egypt, Congo and Uganda for the group's sole ticket for the tournament in Russia.
