Ghana FA summons Kotoko players and technical team for hearing

Published on: 18 July 2011

The Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee has summoned players and technical team of Asante Kotoko to a meeting in Accra on Thursday.

The two-time African champions will have to explain why punitive actions should not be taken against them for snubbing the medal and trophy presentation for this year's President's Cup.

The club suffered a one-year ban and a 10,000 Ghana cedi fine from the Ghana League Clubs Association for boycotting the ceremony which was attended by the country's vice-president John Mahama.

Kotoko wrote a groveling apology to the vice-president and said sorry for their actions at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Kumasi-based side have also contested that the GHALCA has no capacity to sanction them.

Kotoko are preparing for Sunday's MTN FA Cup final against second-tier side Nania FC at the Accra Stadium on 24 July.

l do not understand why Kotoko does not want to accept defeat why,do they think there are better than other teams. If all the teams decided not to play with them then they will not be recognized or be in business.

Whether the league will be boring without them or not, decipline is what we are seeking in the local league. I bet if Kotoko is Banned for 1 year, the league will be far better with less of these disgraceful acts. I am really disappointed in Kotoko. SHAME!!!!

They apologized which means they accepted they acted wrongly. Does that mean they do not want to play with any club? GHALCA does not even have the authority to sanction any club. Just some stupid "politicians" trying to do what they do not have any powers to do.

Did Kotoko not apologize? This means they accepted they acted wrongly. GHALCA does not even have the authority to sanction any club. Any punishment should fit the crime. Let us see how the league will go without Kotoko
