Ghana FA to lose MTN FA Cup sponsorship if season is cancelled- reports
MTN FA Cup

The Ghana Football Association has been told to continue their season or risk losing their MTN sponsorship for the FA Cup.

According to Skyy Power 93.5 FM, a station owned by chairman of the FA Cup Committee, the telecommunication giant is running out of patience with the local football governing body.

This follows a similar threat by TV right holders StarTimes, which is pulling punches to ensure the continuation of the 2019/2020 season amid the Coronavirus outbreak as revealed by GHANAsoccernet last week.

The Cup competition has not been played in the country since 2017 when Asante Kotoko crushed perennial rivals Hearts of Oak 3-1 at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

MTN's deal sponsorship with the Ghana Football Association is the longest running since  2010.

The Anas expose which highlighted corruption in the game halted football activities for two years.

And when the Ghana FA became functional, competitive fixtures came to screeching halt due to coronavirus.

The Ghana FA is trying to convince the government to resume football activities in the country.
