Ghana FA will resist attempts to impose coach

The Ghana Football Association has warned that the federation will not be forced into choosing a particular candidate for the vacant Black Stars coaching post.

Since Serbian Milovan Rajevac opted not to renew his contract, there has been frantic lobbying from various interest groups for their preferred coach to take over.

There has been a strong voice for a local coach to the post while others have argued for a foreigner to take the vacant position.

Brazilian coach Felipe Scolari, Marcel Desailly, Gianfranco Zola, Humberto Coelho are said to be the frontrunners among the over 100 coaches who have applied.

But there are some highly talented coaches among the over 100 who have also thrown their hats into the ring but they have low-key profiles have left them out of the debates.

Radio stations have also been vocal in the debates over the new coach but the Ghana FA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi has warned that the federation only wants to choose the best trainer for the Black Stars. "It's important that the discussions are based on facts and objectivity rather than an attempt to slight the credentials of people,” the Ghana FA boss Nyantakyi said.

“I continue to hear names of all kinds of coaches.

"But the process would be determined by the Ghana Football Association.

“The views of stakeholders would matter but no one can pressure us into going towards a particular direction," he said.

The Black Stars have been without a coach since Rajevac left in September.
