The Ghana Football Association has decided to suspend the Elite Cup competition indefinitely.

With the Premier and second-tier league set to wrap up next month, the Ghana FA has put the competition on hold to avoid fixture congestion.

A letter dated 13 August 2015, has been dispatched to all 16 clubs in the Ghana Premier League.

It read: “The Ghana Football Association presents its compliments and wishes to inform you that the above-mentioned competition has been suspended indefinitely to allow clubs to concentrate fully on the First Capital Plus Premier League and the GN Bank Division One League respectively.”

The Elite Cup was introduced in December last year to keep clubs active as the 2014/2015 season was delaying due to a court case.
