Former Black Stars kingpin Abedi Ayew Pele has waxed lyrical about Asamoah Gyan over his Ghana career, but believes he could have achieved a lot more.

Gyan, who made his Black Stars debut in 2003, is Ghana's all-time top scorer and most-capped player with 51 goals in 109 internationals

The former Udinese frontman represented the West Africa powerhouse at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups, scoring 6 goals in all to become top African goalscorer in the history of the competition.

He featured at seven AFCON tournaments, and also the 2004 Olympic Games for his country.

“Asamoah [Gyan] has done quite well. I saw him play and I knew he was going to be a great player. In the Black stars he has done very well but he could have done more,” Abedi Pele remarked on GTV Sports.

“I knew he has the ability to score wonderful and immediately I saw him I was impressed. He has a bit of Tony Yeboah in him.”

Gyan is currently without a club after leaving Indian Super League outfit NorthEast United FC in January.
