Ghana humiliated as Netherlands knock them out of FIFA U20 Women's World Cup

Ghana have been hammered 4-0 by the Netherlands to crash out of the 2018 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup in France, conceding eight goals in two matches.

Three goals in the first and one in the second half ensured the Africans were well and truly beaten at the Stade de la Rabine in Vannes.

Fenna Kalma scored twice sandwiched by goals from Aniek Nouwen and Victoria Pelova to send the European on their way to victory.

While the West Africans started brightly, it didn’t take long for the Netherlands to get into gear. Two spurned chances could have rocked their confidence, but they didn’t have to dwell on them long, going ahead on 21 minutes.

Three goals in 11 minutes put them in complete control, with Aniek Nouwen’s downward header at the back post getting the debutants rolling on the back of their slender win over New Zealand.

Having netted in their opener, Fenna Kalma made no mistake when put through by the Victoria Pelova, before converting with superbly taken volley to see her move joint-top of the scoring charts.

The heavy defeat sums up the poor preparations of the Black Princesses for the global event.

The African powerhouse are out of the tournament after losing their opening game 4-1 to host France.

Ghanaian football is at the cross roads with football on ice after an investigative piece by controversial journalist Anas Aremeyaw revealed widespread corruption in the game.
