Ghana league top marksman left out of Ghana's AFCON squad

The league’s top goalscorer Emmanuel Baffour will not make the trip to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea for the Africa Cup of Nations as only two local goalkeepers made the cut.

Baffour, 22, who has been in scintillating form – scoring 11 goals from 11 games had hoped his exploits in the Glo Premier League will be enough to earn him a place in Goran Stevanovic’s squad.

“I hope my name appears on the list because this will be a dream come true,” Baffour had earlier told GHANAsoccernet.com

“I was not really thinking about the Black Stars when the league started but my form is speaking for me.

“If it is God’s wish then it will come to pass.”

But the New Edubiase hitman’s hopes were dashed after it emerged he was conspicuously missing from the squad to be made official at a Press Conference on Thursday.

Only two local players both goalkeepers; Daniel Agyei (Liberty Professionals) and Ernest Sowah (Berekum Chelsea) made it to the final 23-man squad.
