Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is set to leave Legon Cities following the expiration of his one-year deal with the Ghana Premier League side, according to a report by The Finder.

The former Sunderland man was the biggest name to arrive at Legon Cities last season after a move to Asante Kotoko fell through due to financial reasons.

His arrival at Legon Cities was rumored to have cost about one million dollars, and while the club has denied those figures it was expected that Gyan would be the highest earner on the domestic scene.

However, due to injuries and fitness issues, Gyan failed to make the sort of impact the owners of Legon Cities expected.

The club flirted with relegation this season and has therefore decided to let of the big names that failed to impress.

Alongside the former Ghana captain, other players to be released are Baba Mahama, teenage sensation Matthew Anim Cudjoe and Victorian Adebayor.

Finder Sports has also learned that Nii Saban Quaye, the former Team Manager of the Black Stars and Hearts of Oak will move to Legon Cities as part of the restructuring of the club.
