Ghana are level on points with South Africa after drawing with Ethiopia on Thursday.

Black Stars surrendered a first-half lead to draw the must-win World Cup qualifying match against Ethiopia at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg.

Captain Andre Ayew scored a sumptuous free-kick to give Ghana a halftime lead but Milovan Rajevac’s side were utterly poor in the second half.

Black Stars were jittery and gave the ball away on numerous occasions in key areas, allowing Ethiopia to create decent chances.

They eventually got the equaliser in the 72nd minute through captain Getaneh Kebede who received a fine pass and impressively scored.

The result means Ghana are equal on 10 points with group leaders Bafana Bafana, but with five matches played as compared to South Africa's four.

Hugo Broos's side still have to play Zimbabwe at the FNB Stadium on Thursday night.

Should South Africa beat Zimbabwe, Ghana will need a big victory against Bafana Bafana on Sunday to stand a chance of progressing to the next round.
