Ghana line up Saudi Arabia friendly in Dubai

Ghana will play Saudi Arabia in an international friendly in the United Arab Emirates this month.

The Black Stars will take on the Asian giants  on 17 November 17 in Dubai, on the day for international friendlies.

The Ghanaians are seeking to revive themselves following a recent home draw against Sudan in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

But they will also be seeking a revenge over the Saudis who thrashed the Black Stars 5-0 in a friendly in Riyadh three years ago

According to vice president of the FA Fred Pappoe, the official squad list for the Black Stars will be announced this week.

For the Black Stars, the game would form part of the team's build-up towards the resumption of the qualifying for the 2012 African Nations Cup while Jose Peseiro’s Saudi Arabia would use it to prepare for the Asian Cup.

Saudi Arabia stunned Ghana with a 5-0 thrashing of the Black Stars in an international friendly the last time they met in September 2007.

The then Asian Cup runners-up ran riot in Riyadh against one of Africa’s finest teams and inflicted Ghana’s worst defeat since their 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Germany in the early nineties.

Prior to that the two teams met in 2005 in Jeddah with Ghana triumphing 3-1.
