Black Stars team doctor Baba Adam has played down the severity of Andre Ayew’s thigh injury ahead of Ghana’s crucial final Nations Cup qualifier against Togo on Wednesday.

The Olympique Marseille star was withdrawn in the second half of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Uganda as a precautionary measure.

“We thought that the injury was going to be serious and that was why we pulled him off, but after assessing him we saw that it was not as serious as we thought,” Adam said.

“He will need some few days off and should be ready to go.”

Ayew has said he would play through the pain barrier to ensure Ghana qualify to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Equatorial Guinea.
